P. Homan have been in surgical

together for 25 years. Dr. Weber attended Cornell
University and New York University. His surgical
training was obtained at Albert Einstein Medical
Center Yeshiva University in New York. He joined
Drs. Kaare K. Nygaard and John Carnevalli in surgical
practice at White Plains Hospital Center in 1969
until their retirement several years ago. He has
enjoyed a successful surgical career in Westchester
County, gaining an outstanding reputation not only
as a surgeon, but also as a compassionate physician.
Dr. Carl Weber is former chief of general surgery at WPHC, as well as past president of the Westchester Medical Society and Westchester Surgical Society, and the Westchester representative for the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Weber has long been an advocate of maintaining the physician-patient relationship as it pertains to medical care and decision making. He has long been opposed to the system of "managed care" and its contribution to the deterioration of the patient-doctor relationship and physicians' ability to make medical decisions in the best interests of their patients. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Weber is most proud of his family. He and his wife Joan have been married for 41 years and have raised five children. They now have four grandchildren, and the family is expanding exponentially!
Dr. Homan has been a White Plains native all his life. His father was a renowned pediatrician for many years at White Plains Hospital. Dr. Homan completed his surgical training at New York Hospital - Cornell University, and spent four years as a registrar surgeon at Oxford University in London. Currently, he his Chief of Surgical Services at White Plains Hospital Center, and has been instrumental in introducing one of the most complete and comprehensive centers for Bariatric Surgery in the country. Dating back to his surgical training at Cornell, Dr. Homan has had a long and deep interest in the care of the morbidly obese patient. His program employs two full time nutritionists, a dedicated medical internist, specializing in the unique medical problems facing this patient population, and two full time psychologists, one of whom is his wife Valerie, who has also had a long interest in the care of these patients. Also, former surgical patients (Angels, as they are called!) have become an integral part of the bariatric team, offering unique support and close follow up to others who have undergone these procedures. Regularly scheduled support meetings are held for patients before and after surgery, as well. Most recently, Dr. Homan has introduced laparoscopy to the bariatric program. This offers patients the same major surgery through small incisions and provides patients with a shorter hospital stay, shorter overall recovery, and potentially fewer postoperative complications. Dr. Homan is also an expert in hernia surgery having, authored a text Hernia (pub. Consumers Union of United States, Inc., Yonkers, NY) … Among his many interests, Dr. Homan is a life long die hard Yankee fan, and an accomplished pilot.
Dr. Philip Weber joined his father and Dr. Homan in practice in September 2001. He is a graduate of Brown University School of Medicine and completed his surgical training at MCPHahnemann University under the direction of Dr. Joel J. Roslyn. He also finished a specialty fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic surgery with his mentor Garth H. Ballantyne, MD. Dr. Weber is proud to be able to work with his father Carl, and with Bill Homan, and hopes to place White Plains Hospital Center among the leaders in surgical laparoscopy in New York State. In the few short months since his joining the Weber Homan surgical team, laparoscopy has already become a mainstay of the surgical practice. Dr. Weber has introduced laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric Bypass, laparoscopic surgery for Gastroesophageal Reflux disease and repair of hiatal and para-esophageal hernias, laparoscopic colon surgery, laparoscopic hernia (inguinal and ventral) repair, as well as laparoscopic solid organ surgery (splenectomy, adrenalectomy, and nephrectomy) to the practice and White Plains Hospital.
